UnitedMasters Review 2026: Pricing, Rules, and Timing

Official sources checked October 5, 2026. This is a document-based guide to the published plans and release requirements, not an independent test of support quality or delivery speed.

Choose a distributor around the release you actually need to deliver. For UnitedMasters, the useful questions are which membership permits distribution, how far ahead to submit, whether your repertoire is supported, and whether the artwork and metadata meet its requirements.

Membership: free access is different from distribution

The official membership guide lists three tiers:

  • DEBUT: free access to receive royalties when another artist adds you through Split Pay and to act as a team member on other artist accounts. Do not read this as a free unlimited-distribution plan.
  • DEBUT+: $19.99 USD per year, with unlimited releases to more than 35 music services. UnitedMasters advertises retention of 100% of royalty earnings.
  • SELECT: $59.99 USD per year, with that distribution offering plus access to submit music for sync-licensing opportunities. Access does not guarantee a placement.

UnitedMasters separately states that paid subscriptions are annual, not monthly. Check the current plan, currency, renewal terms and checkout total before purchasing; the listed subscription price is not a statement that every possible service or charge is included.

Timing: submission, approval and store availability are separate

UnitedMasters recommends submitting a release three weeks before the intended date. Its timing guide says most services typically process a release in one to two days after approval and delivery. That is not a promise that a new upload will be live within two days.

The same guide says store processing can take longer, including Apple internal reviews of up to 15 business days. For Spotify, it specifies at least five business days for a new release and two for changes or takedowns. Treat those as delivery-planning requirements, not guaranteed live dates.

Work backward from your release date: finish the audio, agree collaborator details, review artwork and metadata, then leave room to respond to any rejection notice. Buying a plan does not remove those preparation steps.

Artwork: inspect the actual file

The published formatting requirements call for square JPG or PNG artwork, 3000–6000 pixels per side, at least 72 dpi, and under 150 MB. Check the downloaded file rather than assuming that a preview or design tool provides the required export.

The artwork rejection guide also addresses rights to imagery, blur, cut-off text and a mismatch between artwork text and release metadata. URLs, social handles, promotional pricing and third-party branding are among the items it prohibits. Keep release information consistent and review the full current rules before submitting.

If you use a reference photo, retain evidence that you can use it for the release. If a submission is flagged, resolve the stated issue instead of assuming that a different tool will guarantee acceptance. UnitedMasters, not Covermatic, decides whether a submission meets its rules.

Repertoire and collaboration checks

UnitedMasters currently says it does not support cover-song distribution. If covers are part of your release plan, resolve that requirement before choosing the service.

Its Split Pay instructions distinguish the release owner from a recipient: an active paid membership is required to send split invitations, while collaborators need UnitedMasters accounts to receive them. Agree the shares and account details before release.

A practical decision checklist

  • Does the selected membership support your planned distribution and collaboration needs?
  • Can you meet the submission lead time without relying on a guaranteed store turnaround?
  • Is your music eligible, including any cover songs?
  • Does the actual artwork file meet the format, text and rights requirements?
  • Have you budgeted for the annual plan and checked any optional charges?

For the visual preparation step, our photo-to-cover walkthrough explains reference selection, a keep/change brief and output checks. You can explore a direction in Covermatic Studio, then review the result, usage terms and export requirements. Generating artwork does not establish rights clearance or distributor approval.
